    Anyone 16 years of age or older who needs help with basic math, reading, or writing, working towards their high school diploma, in need of career or job services, English as Second Language (ESL), or college preparation is welcome to attend. Anyone with interest in pursuing adult education is encouraged to come and talk with a Vermont Adult Learning Representative.     The mission of Southeastern Vermont Community Action (SEVCA) is "to enable people to cope with, and reduce the hardships of poverty; create sustainable self-sufficiency; and reduce the causes and move toward the elimination of poverty."We address people's immediate needs for fuel, housing, food, and other essentials to help stabilize their lives in the short term, and provide further tools and support to help them achieve greater financial independence in the longer term.

    The Springfield Supported Housing Program (SSHP) was founded in 2006 to assist families and individuals in Windsor and Northern Windham counties who were either homeless, or in danger of losing their housing, find permanent, affordable housing and receive at home case management for 6 months to two years. SSHP also has a transitional housing program that has received statewide recognition as a model of best practice for housing the homeless. The program has housed between 80-100 people every year of operation and 95% have retained their housing.
